Meeting with Southwark Regeneration

Today Dan Taylor, Senior Regeneration Officer at Southwark Council, paid a visit to hear about the developments to the Gagarin Square plans. Dan’s reaction was extremely positive – ‘It will make Southwark the Piccadilly of the South again!’ he exclaimed. He noted that the active street front will bring vitality to this unremarkable stretch of Southwark Street, and the cultural and office space provide diverse opportunities for several hundred employees.  He wished us the best of success with our forthcoming applications to the Conservation Area authorities, whom he noted are constantly changing both the nature and bounds of conservation areas out of necessity, and offered his help in negotiating the intricacies of Southwark Council.

In later February we will meet with Valerie Beirne, a Senior Planning Officer at Better Bankside, who is a key figure in putting together the new Bankside Neighbourhood Plan with great support from Juliet Seymour, of Southwark Council.
